After the roof rack had been installed, we needed a better and more permanent method to access the roof. We set out in search for a ladder that would attach to either the side or back of the van. We quickly realized that options were quite limited. The only option we could find that did not involve significant modification to either our roof rack or the ladder was the Surco rear door ladder. The ladder is offered in either stainless steel or black, but we opted for black as it matched the roof rack and balance of our exterior accessories. We ordered the ladder from Sprinter Store which at the time had the best price and free shipping!
Installation was a breeze and only required hanging the ladder from the drivers side rear door and securing two screws (included) at the bottom of the ladder to the door. The ladder has been a great addition to the build, not only for accessing the roof, but also as a makeshift drying rack!

Dan,
We have had the ladder for 2 years and have not had a problem yet. I would say that the ladder gets low to moderate use, certainly not something we are climbing every day.
Thanks

I always wonder if that will prematuraly cause door problems. Does hanging it on the door add weight to the door when climbing?
